IELTS (INTERNATIONAL ENGLISH LANGUAGE TESTING SYSTEM)- Required for admission and visa to Australia-
Accepted by UK, Australian, Canadian and New Zealand institutesin place of TOEFL.

International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is one of the mandatory tests required to be taken, for admission in Australian Universities (at any level). Earlier, TOEFL was also accepted.
With effect from 1st March 2002, all the universities in Australia require only IELTS score in the place of TOEFL. This test is also an alternative test to TOEFL for admission into U.K universities.
IELTS Details:
Test Duration - 2 Hours 45 Minutes.:a) Listening - 30 Minutesb) Reading - 60 Minutesc) Writing two essays - 60 Minutesd) Speaking - 10-15 Minutes
Fee: INR Rs.7,200, payable by D.D to ‘IELTS India Project’ If paying with credit card, the amount payable is Rs. 7,400.
Additional score reporting charges are Rs. 1,000 per score report.
Cancellation fee: Rs. 1,700 will be deducted from the payment and balance will be refunded.
All the above fees are applicable with effect from 1 January 2007 and will be valid till further notice.
Score - will be awarded on a band scale of 1 to 9.
Validity: 2 years (The test can be taken only once in every 3 months).
Test Pattern: Paper-based. (will also be offered as a Computer Based Test in future)
Age limit: Minimum 16 years.
Documents required:
1) Passport or National Identity Card
2) One Photograph
3) One Signature (verified)
Test centers in India : Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Bhopal, Jalandhar, Calcutta, Tiruvananthapuram. Chandigarh, Patna, Pune, Ahmedabad and Bangalore.
Test dates: Four times a month, in some centers and twice/thrice a month in others. (Please check up with the nearest IDP Education Australia on the test dates and centers) or visit http://www.ieltsindia.com/che/datesheet.aspx to find out about the test dates.
Number of Reports: One Score report to the student and 5 to universities.
Additional score reports: The local test center would determine the cost of additional score report.
Results: 2 weeks from the test date.
